Buying a PET preform mould from China for a plant in India

Ordering a mould from another country raises practical questions once the price is agreed: import paperwork, getting the mould to the plant and who comes when something needs fixing. This is how an Indian plant orders a PET preform mould from OSLON.
1. Specification
Everything starts with a clear specification. The more of it you settle before the quotation, the fewer surprises later.
- Preform drawing or sample: weight, length and neck finish.
- Injection machine brand and model.
- Required cavity count or output per hour.
- Hot runner preference: needle-valve or open nozzle.
- Resin grade and any colour or additive.
2. Quotation in India
Send the preform drawing, machine model and output target. OSLON reviews the specification and quotes directly. The engineering team in Taizhou answers technical questions within 8 hours.
3. Design review and manufacturing
OSLON designs the mould in Taizhou, China. You review the full layout before machining starts, so issues are found on the drawing and not on your machine. The mould is then built in our 2,000 m² factory.
4. Trial before shipment
The mould is trialled before it leaves China. Trial preforms are checked against your drawing for geometry and weight, and you see the results before you approve shipment.
5. Import, clearance and delivery
Confirm the port of arrival, customs clearance and transport from the port to your factory before the mould ships. Those steps belong in the quotation, not after the mould is on the water.
6. Installation and commissioning
The mould is installed on your injection machine and commissioned against the acceptance points agreed at the start of the project.
7. After-sales
Every OSLON mould carries a 2-year warranty. After-sales questions come back to the OSLON engineering team.
